Circular routes around Bad Breisig and the Mönchsheide plateau
The circular routes are marked by signs showing black numbers on a yellow background.Many of the footpaths run through the popular Mönchsheide plateau in the woodland above Bad Breisig. The Mönchsheide is a superb area for longer walks. Walking maps showing the routes and a description of each are available from the Tourist Information Office in Bad Breisig.

The RheinSteig long-distance footpath
The Rheinsteig follows the right bank of the Rhine from Wiesbaden to Bonn and can be reached by ferry from Bad Breisig. The route extends for 300 km and offers superb views at all times of the year. Rotweinwanderweg (Ahrtal) - Red Wine long-distance footpath (Ahr Valley)
The Rotweinwanderweg runs for 35 km through the Ahr Valley from Bad Bodendorf station to Altenahr. What a great way to find out where your wine comes from! Limes long-distance footpath
The Roman 'Limes', a line of fortifications that marked the boundary of the Roman Empire, was built some 2.000 years ago between Bad Hönningen and Rheinbrohl and is today a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors can see a replica watchtower on the banks of the Rhine (Tower 1). The Limes ran for 550 km as far as the Danube to protect the frontier of the Roman Empire.
