Museum in the (former) bridge tollhouse

...the Boatbuilders, Skippers and Fishermen’s Society and SSUFY Speyer are currently displaying ship models, ship’s hardware and boat charters that they have in their possession. These reflect the ship construction, shipping, and fishing industries on the Rhine from their beginnings to the present. This permanent exhibition is routinely accessible to the public during summer months and, on request, during the rest of the year. It is intended to help preserve local history and tradition.

By nurturing the ancient customs of the boatbuilders, skippers and fishermen who are reported to have existed in Speyer since 1327, the Society is maintaining historical memories and securing the transfer of traditions for future generations.
