Profile

INNOVATIVE: specialised and interdisciplinary  courses offered in a cooperative way of teaching and learning. Examples are: Urban Planning, European Community Education Studies, and at the RheinAhrCampus: Medical and Sports Medical Engineering, Biomathematics and Sports Management.

OPEN: we are an outgoing organization supporting the transfer of theory into practical implementation through intense exchanges with companies and institutions. Our courses are oriented towards interdisciplinary learning, take intercultural dimensions of vocational practice into account, and prepare for international practice. Our universitys aim is to find excellent partners in the field of research on a national as well as international level. 80 per cent of final projects/Bachelor and Master thesis, are completed in local, usually internationally active companies.

INTERNATIONAL: We cooperate with 80 partner universities, exchanging students and staff to promote internationality. With students from over 60 countries, our goal is to attract even more international students and intensify international exchange. A consultancy named KOSINUS (KOblenzer Studierende International - Netzwerk Und Service), was founded by 7 organisations working together to ensure that international students receive every assistance they need to complete their studies successfully. We are proud of our "first aid" programm which guarantees that all international students are picked up at the station on arrival and have a guide in the first few weeks. Students are constantly attended to and councelled throughout their course of study.

STRUCTURED: We take advantage of the small, manageable size of our four campuses - the favourable ratio of lecturers to students allows effective work in small groups, intensive discussions and efficient laboratory work.

REGIONAL: Our university is a centre for innovation and services. It carries out applied research and development as well as further education for and with the companies and institutions in this region.

Rhine Valley

Both university towns, Koblenz and Remagen, are on the Rhine and were originally founded by the Romans 2000 years ago. The so-called "Mittelrhein" region has been named UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. There are numerous castles dating back to the Middle Ages as well as the world famous cliff of the Loreley overlooking this beautiful part of the Rhine valley. There are many opportunities for recreational activities, ie.  extensive cycle paths along the rivers Rhine and Moselle with wine cellers and beer gardens. The surrounding area is dominated by vast areas of forest land and vineyards.
