Study programme
The core subjects for each study specialism are the same, consisting of graphic design, 3D design, history of art, art theory, regional history (ancient and pre-historic), calligraphy, photography, architectural history and structural physics.
The intermediate examination is attained after 3 study semesters, a practical semester is an integral part of the 5 semester main course and work for the full degree certificate is complete in the 8th semester.
The art course takes place in workshops and studios for the preferred material option. A mixture of self governed tasks and group projects are undertaken, with the goal of strengthening artistic expression and meaningfulness in the spheres of vessel making, 3D form, architectural ceramics and studio glass.
A fundamental element of the course is the International Guest Tutor programme. Each semester a guest tutor from a different country teaches at the Institute for four weeks. In this way a world-wide network of studios, higher education institutions and other art training facilities has developed, which can be made use of by the student. The Institute is a member of the world-wide active Acadmie Internationale de la Cramique (A.I.C.) and Glass Art Society (G.A.S.).
