Studying at the Institute of Ceramic and Glass Arts

General Information

The Institute of Ceramic and Glass Arts (IKKG) is a central artistic and scientific institution as part of the University of Applied Sciences, Koblenz.
The Institute of Ceramic and Glass Arts focuses on teaching free art, applied research and the knowledge transfer with respect to shape and technology. Students will be admitted for both winter and summer semester.

Sandguss im Glasatelier

To be admitted to the entrance examination just hand in your application - as you would do at any other art college or academy - and your portfolio. Deadline for handing in your portfolio is 1 December each year.
The Institute of Ceramic and Glass Arts determines a student�s aptitude to study in a Free Art Ceramics and Glass course in an admission procedure which lasts two days. It takes place in January every year. Professors are available for preliminary talks, in which many questions regarding the preparation for the course can be discussed.

There is a detailed description of the requirements of the study course available under the category Applications. We expect gifted students and a high degree of artistic motivation. Familiarity with the materials clay or glass are appreciated.
The course Bachelor of Fine Arts consists of 6 semesters, the postgraduate course Master of Fine Arts 4 semesters.

The institute offers a total of 30 places for both major fields of study � free art ceramics and free art glass.
