General information
The Institute of Ceramic and Glass Arts (Institut fr Knstlerische Keramik und Glas or IKKG) is an artistic and academic institution of Koblenz University of Applied Sciences.
The IKKG is dedicated to applied research, design and technology, teaching and study.
Intake of new students occurs annually in summer and winter semester. Application is by presentation of portfolio for gaining admission to the entrance exam on 1st December every year.
The IKKG establishes suitability of applicants for the course by means of a two part entrance process, taking place at the end of January. Teaching staff hold personal interviews to decide which questions are relevant to the student in his or her preparation for specialised study.
Entry requirements are High School exam passes and familiarity with techniques for working with clay or glass. Previous training in vessel making, hand built ceramics or glass is an advantage.
The basic 8 semester comprehensive course corresponds to state training rules.
The Institute offers 20 places for ceramics students. Organisation of the glass study specialism is underway and will offer places for 15 students.
