International Summer School Program 2009
Myrtle Beach meets Remagen
Sixteen students of Coastal Carolina University accompanied by Prof. Dr. Mark Mitchell (Chair, Dept. of Management, Marketing and Law at CCU) visited the Rhineland in May. Through their cooperation with the students of Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg and RheinAhrCampus Remagen, they had excellent opportunities of finding out about academic life and social activities offered at German universities. The German students involved also enjoyed the joint seminar work and the case studies as they were confronfronted with different approaches to familiar problems as well as interesting information about cultural differences.
The topic of this year's teaching modules , "International Business: Challenges, Insights and Comparisons", was explored by means of various seminar sessions, talks and excursions.
In addition to academic coursework, social activities such as sports events, an interactive rally of Bonn, the former capital of Germany, and a barbecue on the banks of the river Rhine, helped to foster strong relationships.
Remagen meets Myrtle Beach
The participants chosen for participation in the International Summer School at CCU in Fall 2009 were actively involved in preparing many of the activities offered during the first part of the summer school program. After the initial pre-departure meetings, contacts with CCU students were arranged. Email communication and chat sessions were used for early communication with students at CCU. Through their contributions to the first part of the Summer School Program, students had an opportunity prepare for their own stay at Coastal Carolina Univerity in August/September.
