3 groups of students produce 3 advertisements for different jobs: - Research assistant - Library assistant - Kitchen help Brighton students send advertisements for three different jobs to Fulda students (before: Tuesd. 14.00) |
Fulda students learn about writing a CV tailored to the job.
Students analyse the three different jobs and discuss the skills that they involve. They draw CVs which include only those skills which are required for the specific job they apply for. |
Fulda students have an extra weekend meeting for finalising their CVs and for discussin strategy |

Brighton students make three short lists of the candidates (i.e. one for each job. That is to say they select the best candidates for each job.)and send letters of invitation to a job interview or comprehensive letters of rejection stating the reasons (evaluating the CVs) to Fulda students.
Students arrange online-interview dates and places (week 46, Tuesday 11 November 9.30-11.00 English time( !!!) with promising applicants from Fulda |
Fulda students send CVs tailored to the jobs before Tuesday morning.
Fulda students may try to get informal contact with the Brighton juries to improve their chances Fulda students impatiently check their email boxes for news every day hoping to get a chance for an interview |
Fulda students send them by Monday evening 9.30 GMT(10.30 German time)

Interviews take place between Brighton students and a selection of Fulda students whose CVs have been successful and therefore are shortlisted for interviews (Tuesday 11 November 9.30-11.00 English time( !!!) .
Evaluation of interviews. Selection of ONE best applicant for every job Brighton students send a comprehensive letter to each candidate who passed the interview stage and letters of rejection to the others who did not pass the interview stage stating in detail the reasons.(evaluating the interviews.) Selected students try to include some points which are important to them into the work contract
All students write Thank-you letters for the comprehensive evaluation which they received for their CVs from Brighton directly to the persons who gave them the evaluation EVALUATION |
This week could also be used for some more informal contact between the students (chats etc.)
Students should report to coordinators which parts of the case study could have been more realistic |
