Welcome to the internet project "renewable energy"
written by Maher Mascharka and Jens Rossbach

This is the introduction Page of an internet based communication project between two universities.
It has been planned to let a few companies offer each a way to give a fictional country renewable energy power plants.
There are students in Helsinki, Finnland. They represent the government of the fictional country named Borgland. On the other side there are students from Fulda, Germany, who represent the different companies.
Dr. Elmar-Laurent Borgmann, the lecturer of the German students and Mrs. Marjatta Huhta, the english teacher of the Finnish students have organized this internet project. They had to create the time schedule and integrate the project in the normal english studies of the students.

The task of the Helsinki group was to create a landscape (that of course does not exist) with geographical elements like mountains, rivers, lakes etc. as well as civilisation objects like towns, villages, streets and so on. The finns have divided up into four small groups and each group had to work on one part of the subject (at the bottom of this page you can find a list with the links to the pages of all four teams). After a time of hard work,  Borgland was born. They sent an e-mail message with all information of Borgland, that is in detail

including a map of the whole country to Fulda Consult, a fictional company of the english course.

The Fulda group has divided up into five groups. Each group represents a company for renewable energy power plants. The five groups are Aquahot & Sons, Hydro-electric Ltd., MirrorSol Enterprises, Tidal Ltd. and Turbulence Inc.. All these companies have their own homepage where they present themselves and describe their products. They had to write an offer to the government of Borgland where they made their proposals concerning the solution of the energy needs of Borgland.

This project is something new for the students, they now must look at all the aspects of the different ways to get energy from renewable energy resources.
The Helsinki group have to analyze the offers of the German companies and decide, which aspects are how important for the fictional country Borgland.
The Fulda students on the other side must look in the companies which advantages and disadvantages their technology has got, they must try to convince the Helsinki students how good their products are and this groups must also look if the social, political and economical aspects have been noticed in their offers.
