The Palatinate Forest mountain bike park was opened in summer 2006. Its trails of more than 300 kilometers offer the right tour for any taste, as far as length and technical challenge are concerned. The experienced serious biker as well as families with children or beginners will be able to find their dream route. Idyllic winding paths and rapidly alternating climbs and descents, all embedded in a varied forest area, are a biker's dream. Scattered in quiet valleys are picturesque villages and lakes. Along the hills, romantic castles alternate with bizarre sandstone formations, and throughout the forest the visitor will find friendly service in rustic huts.

Lauter valley bike trail

Lauter valley bike trail

The well-marked Lauter valley bike trail was opened in summer 2005. It runs from Kaiserslautern via Otterbach, Katzweiler, Olsbrücken, Sulzbachtal and Wolfstein to Lauterecken, following the Lauter river through picturesque flood plains, past paddocks and meadows and through charming villages with quite a few tourist attractions. The bike trail has only a few slight grades over its distance of 40 km, which makes it ideal for families with children. And the Lauter valley railroad line running parallel to the trail allows you to catch the train at any of the stations along the route. Bikes can be taken on the train without problem.
