About the work
The Stuhlhockerbänke ("Stoolbenchchairs") by Yvonne Fehling and Jennie Peiz are positioned at various locations throughout the museum. On the one hand these objects are perfectly ordinary seating furniture and can be used by the visitors as such. And on the other this series of seats represents an unusual fusion of chair, stool and bench elements. Large seating groups can be separated into their individual components and re-combined in a new arrangement.
Some of the seating groups look as if they have been placed together at random. So that people can chat with each other more easily? Why not try it out for yourself: you will have no difficulty rearranging the smaller seating groups. And you can see how versatile and communicative the "Stoolbenchchairs" are.
Of course the Stuhlhockerbänke are not just designed to encourage communication: you can take a seat here at any time in order to study at leisure the artworks in the exhibition and the nature all around.
About the artists
Yvonne Fehling and Jennie Peiz founded their joint design studio and the product label "Kraud" in 2006. They live and work in Karlsruhe and Munich.
