Apply now: Privacy Media Award DAME
Film and media professionals, YouTubers, creatives, journalists, associations and initiatives can now apply for the Data Protection Media Award - DAME for short - 2020. The award is given to media contributions that explain data protection in a clear and understandable way, while at the same time addressing the topics and language of their target group. Young people and school groups can also apply. All media genres and forms in the German language are eligible, whether long or short films, reports, print and radio contributions, songs, media platforms, video clips or animated contributions. Initiator of the DAME is the BvD, from this year it is continued by its non-profit GmbH privacy4people.
Contest submissions are possible until December 10, 2020. Interested parties can obtain the application documents at www.datenschutzmedienpreis.de. From the submissions, the jury will nominate three finalists who will be invited to the festive awards ceremony in Berlin on April 28, 2021. The winners will be announced at the gala. Criteria for the selection are professional presentation, comprehensibility, target-group-oriented address and originality.
The DAME 2019 was awarded to Cologne-based YouTuber Felix Michels for his YouTube reportage "Das weiß das Internet über Dich". He will support the jury in awarding the DAME 2020. Two special prizes were also awarded at the DAME 2019: The report "Tracking: A day on the Internet - what traces do I leave behind" by Christian Schiffer for Bayern 2 was awarded "Best Radio Contribution," and the TV contribution "Facebook in Real Life" by Jakob Leube and Freddy Radeke for the NDR satire magazine "extra 3" was awarded "Best Comedy and Satire Contribution." A total of 33 entries were submitted. You can see a video of the online award ceremony for the DAME 2019 in the right column.
Since November 2018, the DAME has been sponsored by the DATEV Foundation Future, and the EU initiative klicksafe.de is the media partner.
