War in Ukraine, escalation in the Middle East conflict, climate change - In times of crisis, we all experience uncertainties and irritations, often in line with disinformation, fake news, conspiracy narratives and hate speech on the web. Add to that AI tools, with the help of which fake images and videos are disseminated en masse. What's true? What is false?  Children and young people also encounter false claims, hate and incitement every day on TikTok, Instagram or in chat groups. Their trust in democracy, in the adult world that is supposed to give them security and certainty, is shaken. How can we effectively counter disinformation and strengthen media literacy - especially among young people?

In the klicksafe online workshop "Disinformation and Hate Speech on the Net - Response Strategies and Other Didactic Approaches for the Classroom" we have DigiBitS (Digital Education Meets School) a project of Germany safe on the net (DsiN). They will provide information on how young people can be made aware of the dangers of disinformation and hate speech in the classroom. Participants will learn about the forms, content and effects of disinformation and hate speech. Afterwards, tried-and-tested and practicable approaches for teaching will provide suggestions on how to react safely and confidently to disinformation and hate speech on the Internet.

The online workshop takes place as part of the action days "Netzpolitik & Demokratie". It is aimed at teachers from the 7th grade upwards, especially in the subject areas of German, social sciences, political education and history.

Participation in the workshop is free of charge. Registration is mandatory, the number of participants is limited to 30.
